(Places to Visit: Mgahinga, Bwindi Nkuringo sector, Kibale Chimpanzees, and White water Rafting)
You will arrive Entebbe airport to be met and greeted by your driver guide from Abeam Safaris Uganda. Transfer to hotel in Kampala and subsequently briefing about the whole trip details which is also in your welcome pack.
Day 1: Kampala Capital city – Kisoro town near the Virunga Mountains
After your breakfast at 07:30am, begin panoramic Safari south-word to travel to Mgahinga(KLA MGNP 554 km 9hrs Journey). Through the Kigezi Highlands. You will stop for pictures at the Equator, a line that divides the world into two, the safari will allow you to get good shorts of pictures from your window of long Horned cattle, side markets in Lukaya, Lyantonde the famous places for roasted meat and banana know as “Gonja” and fruit market in Mbarara, Lunch shall be served in Mbarara, at Agip Motel. Shall then drive direct to towards Kisoro with good scenic Landscape on the newly constructed Road arriving late in the evening to your hotel, Overnight.
Day 2: Hiking Mount Sabinyo (3669m) Full day
Early morning after your breakfast transfer to begin trekking to Mount Sabinyo (3669m) which offers 3 challenging peaks to climb. This is known as “Old Man’s teeth”’, time has eroded Sabinyo peak. A climb to the mountain takes one up to peak one, continue to climb to the second peak which involves walking on ridges with breath taking drops into gorges to Rwanda and Uganda, then finalise the hike upwards to third peak which is steep, however expect to get your hands dirty as you go to this last peak and this will be compensated by the spectacular views of Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda seen in the centre this trek.
The climate changes here as you begin the hike up front to the peak this ensures the a growth of vegetation (bamboo 60% which is a delicacy of the mountain gorillas, other types are the famous mountain Lobelia, Haegenia and many more plants here). Animals mix up with this Vegetation which you are most likely to see here as you hike are the; buffaloes, Elephants, bushbucks, the heartened golden monkey and many others including bird species; the Rwenzori turaco, crowned hornbill, black Kite and the crowned crane, the journey takes 8 hours for the round trip to cover the 15km stretch, this time it return back to the ground to check in to your hotel, dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Trekking Mount Gahinga (3474m).
(Since this tour is challenging, clients are advised to come with tents, Sleeping bag or pads, insect repellent, flash lights. (Food, water and security, shall be provided).
Today you will hike Mount Gahinga which stands at a height of (3474m). This hike takes up to 20km for the whole round trip. You will go through pure Bamboo forest, trek up to the former crater area which changes into lush swamp, we advice you to set up camp near Muhavura base camp for the night after this trek of Gahinga for the next day’s day trek. Enjoy your dinner as you relax, waiting to go to have an overnight rest at you camp or hotel.
Day 4: Trekking Mount Muhavura (4127m).
An early morning breakfast before a further trek to Mountt Muhavura which is the highest of all and stands at (4127m); Here is where the best views of the country are found and much of the climb passes on rocky surface covered by grass and shrubs, however, trekkers are rewarded with beautiful views of the Virunga Volcanoes in Congo, Rwanda and Uganda side, Lake Edward in Queen Elizabeth National park, Bwindi Impenetrable forest park, and the peaks of Rwenzori Mountains. The trek takes 8 hours round trip covering 15km. Return for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi national park Nkuringo group.
Drive out of your hotel towards south of Bwindi impenetrable forest National Park to trek gorillas in Nkuringo group that is too challenging. After briefing by the park centre the you will descend and ascend to the steep hills of Nkuringo gorillas, forested, mixed grass indeed making it an impenetrable forest. Bwindi impenetrable forest offers an intriguingly true African jungle experience.
The forest is home to about 330 mountain gorillas, half of the world’s population of about 700 mountain gorillas It takes 8 hrs from the time you depart your hotel, you will carry a packed lunch for you to enjoy after this days trekking of this ape, and then have a village walk if you have time as we return back to the hotel for overnight.
Day 6: Kisoro –Kibale National Park
Early morning departure to to Kibale Forest National park (Kisoro, Kibale Park is 493 km 8hrs journey). You will have lunch in Fort Portal town after visiting the Kings palace. Arrive Kibale in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Kibale forest National to Jinja Town
Morning chimps trekking (8:00am 1200pm) 5hrs trekking in the forest; Kibale forest National Park is home to 13 primate species including the red colobus, velvets and L’Hoest’s monkey and Chimpanzees. The shady forests provide botanists and butterfly enthusiasts with a rare treat. For birders, 335 species of birds have been recorded including the guinea fowl, great turaccos and parrots. An estimated 600 chimps inhabit the forest.
Community- based eco-tourism has been developed here, an array of native plants, animal’s foods, medicines and plant products are found here. The canopy rings with bird calls. Tree species like wild rubber trees, polita figs and candelabra euphorbia are common here. After the trek and lunch, transfer to Jinja (Kibale Jinja 375km 7hrs journey) for your celebration, dinner and overnight on full board basis.
Day 8: Kampala – Entebbe
This is your day of choice and the available options include: a cultural tour of Kampala, a half days rafting / bunjy jumping or a shopping spree before your transfer to the airport for flight back home
