Day 1: Arrival Entebbe International Airport Uganda
You will arrive Entebbe airport to be met and greeted by your driver guide from Abeam Safaris Uganda. Transfer to Africana hotel (optional choices) in Kampala and briefing shall follow after you have check in about the whole trip details which is also in your welcome pack.
Day 2: Kampala to Kasese
After early breakfast, transfer to Kasese via Mbarara for lunch at the Agip Motel Mbarara; the journey takes you in the middle of Queen Elizabeth National park, where you will have the opportunity to relax with the views of this savannah grass park, Animals not to miss are some antelopes like the Kob, others are Elephant, Bufalo, worth hogs and many more are as you continue to kasese town, arrive to you hotel, for Dinner and overnight dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Nyakalengija 1600m – Nybitaba Hut 2652m Nyabitaba hut.
After your breakfast head to the Rwenzori Mountains National Park Head Quarters at Nyakalengija 1.646 m, you will be briefed by the guide on how the activity will be carried on this day and if you do not have the equipments there is a possibility to hire equipment here for you to use, however if you have this id optional. Begin the hike through the plantations and homes to the Bakonjo, called the people of the mountain, gradually reaching to garden plots and elephant’s tall grass.
Follow the Mobuku River, till crossing it from Mahoma River. The trail passes through an open br0cken fern slopes and Podorcarpus Forest, up to Nyabitaba Hut, 2.652 m, which is the arrival point for the day. This walk will 5 to 6 hours to the hut. From the location, you are facing on the North of the Portal Peaks, 4.627 m. and in front Mount Kyniangoma. During the you could spot some monkeys, the Rwenzori turaco. The hiking of the Rwenzoris begins from this point
Day 4 :From Nyabitaba Hut 2650m – John Matte Hut 3414m
The trail from Nyabitaba drops down through the forest to the Kurt Shafer Bridge, just below the confluence of the Bujuku and Mubuku Rivers. A steep ascent through bamboo forest, traversing a long and exhausting stretch of slippery moss-covered rock; From Nyamileju rock shelter, on clear days, Mount Stanley and Mount Speke can be glimpsed before passing into the zone of the giant heather, lobelia and groundsel. The final stretch to the hut is across a tiring bog, the first of many for which the mountain is infamous dinner and overnight.
Day 5: From John Matte hut – Bigo Bog
Leave John Matte hut to cross the Bujuku River entering the lower Bigo Bog, where your first real experience of jumping from tussock to tussock on a grassy bog begins. You ascend to the Bigo Bog and scenic landscape of Lobelias and giant Groundsels. Dinner and overnight at Bujuku hut (3997 meters).
Day 6: Bujuku Hut to Kitandara Hut
Leave Bujuku hut ascending to the highest point on Trail, Scott Elliot (4,372m) before descending to the two Kitandara lakes, arriving to your hut next to the second lake.
Day 7: Kitandara Hut to Guy Yeoman Hut
The 5 hours walk will start with a steep ascent to fresh field (4,282m) then a descent to Bujongolo cave (3,720m) descend early enough to transfer back to Kampala. It’s optional to request for an extension of the hike to the mountain at an extra cost, a communication to Abeam Safaris Uganda will enable us to make the necessary arrangements.
The Climb Includes:
